Hi, I'm George.

Raised in San Jose, California, I have worked with a variety of mixed media from metal, ceramics, graphite, and various types of paints. My skills are utilized in some of my pieces by combining these mediums together. Where my work is now influenced by traditional Chinese calligraphy and paintings, in earlier years, I had participated within the community of Olympia to create a mural for recovery center. I earned my Bachelor of Arts of visual art design at the Evergreen State College in June 2013.

My pieces theme of cultural awareness and identity. In my pieces, I want to bring back old traditions from Chinese culture and combine it with Western culture. Therefore, for each piece that I create, there's a consistent effort to capture the essence of traditional Chinese art styles which provokes the cultural and identity which represent me. For each piece, I often use the fundamental nature of watercolor paint strokes to reveal the simplicity and movement of the form. The subject I used in my pieces was the human figure, which gives that feeling of contemporary notions yet incorporating traditions of painting. Commonly color is everywhere in my work because it establishes that purity, which suggests the feeling of seriousness and darkness quality to it. The lines and shape of the object provides a sense of open interpretation.
